Reimagining a local Café
Vale is a Seattle based matcha café. I took a look at their branding and reimagined it along with taking a pass at what the start of an app might look like for them.
Building the Vale Brand
Vale is a conceptual lifestyle brand centered around the ritual of matcha and the quiet moments that come with it. The identity explores a balance between minimal modern design and organic texture—drawing inspiration from matcha foam, soft natural light, and the calming greens found in nature. Rather than positioning Vale as a traditional café brand, the visual language focuses on atmosphere and intention. The result is a brand system designed to evoke focus, calm, and connection, using restrained typography, soft gradients, and tactile imagery to create a sense of quiet clarity.
Extending the Ritual Through a Digital Experience
Instead of building a typical ordering or rewards app, I explored how Vale could create a digital experience that encourages people to return to the brand in a more meaningful way. Each package includes a QR code that launches an interactive mobile experience designed around the feeling someone wants in that moment—whether it’s focus, rest, or connection. The app becomes an extension of the ritual itself, offering guided prompts, ambient visuals, and small moments of interaction that complement the act of preparing and drinking matcha. By shifting the focus from transactions to experience, the concept reimagines how packaging, product, and digital design can work together to build a deeper relationship with the brand.
